ULTRASONIC TESTING
Ultrasonic testing makes up a significant portion of our portfolio. Our qualified employees, who are DIN EN ISO 9712 certified, always perform tests in accordance with applicable regulations and guidelines.
We use the SPG 3 (General Electric) hand-guided track inspection device which is equipped with five probes (2 × 38°, 2 × 70° and a straight beam probe). With this device we can safely and efficiently detect and assess irregularities on tracks and switch sections caused during manufacturing and operation. It also enables us to take surrogate measurements for the track inspection vehicle if it is unable to perform an inspection for reasons such as operational downtime.

Pinpointing
The irregularities detected by the track inspection vehicle are assessed with the SPG 3 during pinpointing and classified according to the 821.2007 guideline.

Manual ultrasonic testing
We test clamped and non-clamped forged and welded sections on switch blades and flexible and jointed crossing frogs in accordance with industry guidelines. We also inspect locally produced aluminothermic joint weldings in accordance with the 821.2007Z02 guideline. All inspection results are summarized and documented in a test report which indicates the size and length of the irregularities. In the case of defect sizes which require maintenance an efficient and suitable corrective solution is recommended. Repairs can also be begun directly on site (marking and calibration) if necessary.
